another light frost

couple of runners and walkers. Very little litter except at Durngate bench.

Light frost where sun hasn't reached by boardwalk. Nice light for a spider web.

It looks like the fallen branch is where the whole willow stool had moved.

Sunday 28th September

A few walkers braving the rain.

Big branch down in the river from the Fishing Club side opp NML gate at suitable.sharpened.dumpling

Dead pigeon on the path, I moved it under a plant.

Saturday 27th September

A chilly autumnal feel but beautiful muted colours with bright flashes of berry colour. Long tailed tits flocking and house Martins on migration overhead.

More litter than usual and this fire site under the trees on the way to the pond, surrounded by used nappies, wipes and lots of other litter. Glad to get rid of it!

Wednesday 24th September

Just a quick look round the northern end today as ran out of time. All quiet.

Frost!

very light and soon off but it was definitely there

I wonder how long the council will leave their barriers around our side of the bridge.

Several walkers and more runners than usual despite 2 regulars being absent. Lots of cows in Rugby Club and Duck's Nest. No litter

Sunday 21st September

One walker, one silly runner.  Michaelmas daisies popping up here and there.  Someone has thrown the orange fencing into the river oppositive NW bridge.

Saturday 20th September

Near the River Park bridge, one shopping trolley left by the board and one large barrier in the river. Lovely to see the Guelder Rose berries.  Moderate litter and very quiet.

Friday 19th September

Very foggy and humid this morning with a couple of runners and walkers. Some works (possibly volunteering) are going on along the river by the durngate entrance. Everything ok 👍

Thursday 18th September

All quiet, three visitors.

I noticed that there was a small amount of rubble in the pond, not sure if it's always been there and I haven't spotted it before? It looks like it is on top of the weed so recently dumped?

windy

2 usual runners and a few walkers.

Wind damage on Red Poll, there's a branch waiting to come down. I couldn't shift it, needs a pole saw. My runners had already moved the faller off the path. I've taped the offender and tape round a tree with a small hanger on it, may be more I can't see. While at the pond I heard an ominous creak towards Durngate entrance but couldn't nail it down. There's a tree in the Glade doesn't look too good.

Several nearby trees on North Walls and water Lane sustained serious damage last week. Oh, and a roe watching me strolled off.

Sunday 14th September

Just one other person there at 8am.  Everything ok.  Deer hanging about.  Jays making a noise.

Saturday 13th September

The sun came out after the rain. Multiple small groups of runners - 2s and 3s - and I must say some could have acted more considerately. I didn't say anything today apart from alerting the group of 3 to the swans on the path. Only litter at the benches and the glade. Love the new bridge.

A ring necked parakeet was calling from the fishing lake and then flew over Rugby Club Meadow. I am not overjoyed to hear them.

Friday 12th September

Hardly anyone this morning - probably because it was early. No signs of litter or disruption. New bridge looks very nice.

Thursday 11th September

Looks like we had double cover today! So here are pics of the now-open Rec bridge, and one of the swan families.

Fast asleep at midday

Thursday 11th September

Very quiet this morning,  only one courteous jogger, and a couple strolling around. Two Swan families on path at top loop. Amazing no litter.
Boardwalks look great.

Wednesday 10th September

Very quiet today- didn't meet anyone which perhaps is not surprising as I was walking in a deluge of rain!  Just a sole swan and moorhen. Admired the new boardwalk and Joey's strimming and pond clearance.

work party 09/09

The volunteers and joey made a start opening up the pond by removing the reed regen. This is to maintain the open water habitat which is particularly favourable for odonata species.

They also replaced an iffy board on the bridge within the reserve. The entire bridge will be replaced at some point this year.

Thabks for all your support. I hope you are enjoying the nee boardwalk :)

Thabks again!

warm & sunny

Normal-ish day. No litter, 3 walkers, 2 of my usual runners and spent some useful time with Sheila Anne. Contractors were at the NW bridge. They said it might be open by Wednesday. As usual, swan family blocking the path in swimming pool meadow

Sun 7th September

Odd jobs to be done today including strimming the bench area at the north end of the boardwalk.

Finishing the top loop strimming which was interrupted last weekend by the rain and almost was again. Luckily got it done in time before the downpour.
Took some pics of the boardwalks for trust social media.
Measured up the red hole stream bridge board for replacement.

Trimmed up the bends at the south end of the boardwalk.
Discovered a trolley had appeared at the information board by durngate while I was strimming and trimming. I've parked it by the street bin.

Species board is looking very full for only a week of spots. Saw Lynne and Dave going around with litter bags.

Once again defended the entrance against a cyclist. Loads of runners today.

Sunday 7th September

A few walkers, a group of three runners.  The phantom Opal Fruit eater is back.

Camping equipment stashed under NW bridge.

Saturday 6th September

More litter this Saturday,  which is only to be expected. My bus runs earlier now so I didn't get to see Joey. Best wishes for your uni course! I must look up this strange fungus as I've never seen it before. Growing on a willow root.  Plus lovely Hemp agrimony going over, and St John's Wort by the river.

Thursday 4th September

All good, just one visitor. No litter. The pond remarkably full again and the reeds have encroached a lot whilst the reserve has been closed.

welcome to autumn

first day back. Alone on the reserve and no litter. Boardwalks look and smell good. Nice to see cows in RCM. A buzzard flew off the watching tree just as I pressed the shutter. Noted the blocked sluices at North Walls bridge
